The Ferrari Formula 1 Team fired their entire pit crew yesterday. The announcement followed Ferrari’s decision to take advantage of the Scottish government’s get back to work scheme and employ people from Glasgow area
The decision to employ them was brought on by a recent TV documentary on how unemployed youths from the Glasgow area were able to remove a set of wheels from any car in less than 6 seconds without proper equipment, whereas Ferrari’s existing pit crew can only do it in about 8 seconds with millions of pounds worth of high tech equipment.
It was thought to be an excellent and cost effective move by the Ferrari , As most races are won or lost in the pit stops, Ferrari were extremely confident that they would have a clear advantage over every team.
However…….. Ferrari got more than they bargained for. At the crew’s first practice session, not only were the Glasgow pit crew able to change the tyres in less than 6 seconds, but within 20 seconds they had re-sprayed, re-badged, and sold the vehicle to the McLaren team for 10 cases of Stella, and a couple of season tickets to share for Rangers
