The Lucy Fisher is back into the River Thames after an extensive overhaul / French Brothers

On Monday 2nd April 2012 French Brothers craned The Lucy Fisher back into the River Thames after an extensive overhaul.  She was originally taken out of the River in 2010.

She has had most of the her hull and all of her decking replaced and her passenger areas restored to create the famous African paddle steamer image.

She will now undergo the remaining part of her refit before going for her River Trials and is expected to be back in service by June.

The Lucy Fisher was built in 1982 as a replica Victorian paddle steamer, as used on African rivers.  Her purpose was to appear in the British movie Greystoke, the Tarzan movie, and she was taken out to Cameroon for this role.

After the completion of filming, she was shipped back to the UK and French Brothers Ltd purchased her in 1989.  She is used for trips on the river and has become a firm favourite for visitors, visiting The National Trust Estate at Runnymede.
