A news story on UK marketing budgets being slashed

A recent Bellwether survey has found that business confidence among UK marketing executives has slumped to its lowest level in three years, with just 20 per cent of firms predicting a marketing budget increase in 2012.

“Looking deeper into the data there are signs that companies have become increasingly reluctant to invest in traditional media campaigns, instead diverting money towards the internet and direct marketing,” said Chris Williamson, chief economist at Markit and author of the report.

Applegate Directory is warning that businesses need to be smarter with their marketing investment.

David Garth CEO of Applegate Directory explains, “The value of video as an effective marketing tool has long been recognised, but economic conditions have prevented many smaller businesses from commissioning their own. Even worse, some have put together cheap amateur videos which actually do more harm than good to the business’s reputation.

“Our new Applegate Silver video package offering enables businesses with a limited marketing budget to realise the potential of a professionally made video, optimised to maximise online exposure. The Applegate Silver video package will really bring our customers’ products or services to life, and help them to propel their business forward without breaking the bank.
