An impressive exhibition featuring an indoor replica of Roker Beach has been created for the Queens visit to Sunderland tomorrow.
A series of marquees have been erected at the Sunderland Docks and Event Production Company, R&B Group called upon to help transform the empty shells into a temporary museum.
The installations, created over a 4 day period, take a look back in time; showing the city through every decade since the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1952.
Both the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be the first to visit the exhibition this week, beginning with a recreation of a 1950’s coronation street party.
Other marquees include a 1960’s World Cup themed installation and an exhibit celebrating the inaugural Sunderland Air Show in the 1980’s.
The exhibition ends in the modern day, with images of Sunderland’s 2012 Jubilee street party celebrations.
The marquees will be open to the public from July 19 to July 22, 2012.
