The Student Room Group appoints Jason Geall as Managing Director of The Student Room

The Student Room Group, whose portfolio of online student social media communities and education resources includes thestudentroom.com, getrevising.co.uk and coursework.info, has recently appointed Jason Geall as Managing Director of The Student Room (TSR) to lead the next stage of its growth.

Jason joins The Student Room Group from innovative Global travel solutions provider GetThere, a Sabre Holding’s company, where he was Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing. Prior to that, he was Head of UK Sales at Eurostar and National Sales Manager at Jobsite.

The Student Room, founded in 2003, attracts 5.6 million unique visitors a month, hosts more than 270 online forums on education, career and lifestyle issues with up to 36,000 new discussion posts every day.

TSR Chief Executive, Chris Newson, commented: “ We are very  excited that Jason has joined us to lead the next stage of our growth at The Student Room. The scale and scope of the site is so significant and complex now that we need someone with Jason’s commercial experience and drive to ensure that we can continue to develop and support our student communities appropriately as well as our many education and business clients.”

Jason Geall adds: “It really is a great time to be joining The Student Room. We have some truly exciting plans for the future and we are also leading up to one of our most important periods of the year with the announcement of both GCSE and A-level results and the ensuing UK University clearing process. I’m blown away by the passion, dedication and support that The Student Room staff put into supporting our student community; I’m even more impressed by how the students themselves use our social media platform to come together from all over the world to share, learn and support each other on the broad range of issues that affect the lives of their generation.”
