Virgin Media has been banned from running a TV advert starring Olympic hopeful Usain Bolt that told viewers to ‘say bye-bye buffering’ after rival BT complained that the claim was misleading.
The advert, which was promoting its ‘superfast broadband’ service, ran earlier this year as part of Virgin Media’s campaign featuring the 100 metre Olympic champion.
In the ad, Bolt is dressed up to impersonate Virgin Media boss Richard Branson. He says: ‘Hi I’m Richard Branson and I want everyone to say bye-bye to buffering and hello to a superfast broadband.’
