Samsung, Official Wireless Communications Equipment Sponsor of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, has launched its ‘Thank You’ campaign as a fitting end to an incredible summer of sport.
The campaign features an inspirational film starring London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic athletes, and a series of print advertisements in national press, thanking the people of Great Britain for embracing the true spirit of London 2012. To view the film click here.
The 120 second film captures the excitement of London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, demonstrating how technology was used to bring people closer to every moment. Featuring footage from Samsung’s Olympic Ambassadors, the film focuses on the many ways in which people took part, including mountaineer Kenton Cool ‘fulfilling a 90 year old promise’ of taking an Olympic medal to the top of Mount Everest, Samsung ambassadors Zara Phillips’ support for the Samsung Hope Relay charity initiative and Victoria Pendleton and Laura Trott scooping gold medals on the cycling track.
The film debuted on YouTube in September, in tandem with a series of print advertisements featuring some of Samsung’s Olympic Ambassadors in national print press.
“At Samsung we have approached all our Olympic Games activity with the aim of making it the most inclusive Games ever. The success of the London 2012 Games has been incredible and this is our way as a sponsor of thanking every single person for making it such a success. With the focus now switching to creating an Olympic legacy, we wanted to capture what made the Games so special and look back and be proud of the part everyone played.” said Andrew Garrihy, Corporate Marketing Director, Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland.
“Samsung’s Take Part campaign really epitomises the nature of the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics as events that were for everyone. This ethos informed all parts of Cheil’s ad and activation strategy to build an integrated campaign for the first truly digital and social Games. The Thank You spot sums up an awesome summer in London, full of emotion, inspiration and achievement.” said Matt Pye, Managing Director, Cheil UK.
The film was created by Cheil Worldwide and the production company was Sweet Images. To view the film click here.
