Bennetts, the UK’s No.1 Bike Insurance Specialist, has launched the UK’s first dedicated social network. ‘Bike Social’ which can be found at www.bennetts.co.uk/BikeSocial will target the entire UK motorcycling community and encourage motorcyclists to produce their own rider-specific social networking profiles.
The objective is to bring together the biking community and Bennetts has invested two years in developing bespoke functionality that motorcyclists can utilise to get the most out of their biking lifestyles. This is the first time that a brand has ventured into its own social media development with a major focus on user-generated content. This new approach will underpin Bennetts’ future growth strategy. ‘Bike Social’ will be completely independent to help achieve its aim of becoming the top online destination for UK motorcyclists.
The site will allow riders to upload and share their favourite routes and photos, view the latest biking news and create their own events, ride-outs and meets. Bespoke blogs and forums will enable biking enthusiasts to share views on everything from thoughts on the latest MotoGP race to honest and independent reviews of the latest bikes on the market. In addition to the social networking element, the site enables motorcycling clubs and groups in the UK to establish a web presence of their own at no cost.
Bennetts has attracted long-standing MCN Editor, Marc Potter to spearhead this initiative. On joining Bennetts Marc said: “This is a great opportunity and one I can’t wait to embrace. I’ve been riding since I was able to get on two wheels, and can’t wait for all motorcyclists to get involved. It’s all about riding in the real world rather than just focusing on the dream bikes we see and fantasise about in magazines and websites.
Bennetts Marketing & eCommerce Director, Hannah Squirrell, said: “We have seen tremendous successes through our recent marketing approach, including initiatives such as Biking Dreams, Bennetts:LIVE events and our sponsorship of the best British riders. Last November, we launched Free Bike Classifieds to underpin our commitment to our target audience and further extend the appeal of our brand. The focus of our social network is an all-encompassing online community for UK motorcyclists – providing strength in numbers through one biking community. After two years in development this initiative will further establish Bennetts’ position at the heart of the biking community and Marc’s desire for a new challenge made him our No. 1 choice to join the team”.
