Entrepreneur creates mobile app for Windows Phone and Windows 8

Entrepreneur Cameron Fisher has created an app – called AppSwitch- scheduled to launch at the end of October, 2012. The new Windows app will enable users to find and download applications that are similar or equivalent to those found on the Apple or Android eco-systems.

The app, which is available worldwide, targets those who are considering a move from the Apple or Android software as well as developers who want to release their apps onto the Windows platforms

The inspiration behind the app is focused on the idea that finding apps on a new device isn’t an easy task. Windows 8 is a huge change to the mobile world, putting Windows on an array of devices and opening up choices many consumers simply haven’t had the chance to ponder before. Choice can be good, but it can also be overwhelming. With this in mind and with eager users everywhere, Fisher designed AppSwitch to make this decision making process as effortless and easy as possible.

For developers, AppSwitch will offer a way of internationally marketing their apps in a centralised, economical and low cost way. Developers can find out more information about this new application on the AppSwitch website created by Plug and Play Design Ltd.

Cameron Fisher commented: “AppSwitch for Windows represents a bold leap into the app world. Windows 8 is the newest operating system to this eco-system and there aren’t as many apps available as there are on other platforms.  My ultimate goal is to encourage more and more people to make the transition from Android and iOS to Windows Phone devices. If people aren’t ready to make the transition but own a Windows 8 desktop, laptop or tablet they can use AppSwitch to find apps they have installed on their Android or iOS devices. However, people won’t move to a new platform if they can’t find their favourite apps or at the very least, a similar app that does an equally good job. I created AppSwitch to solve that problem – to help people find what they’re looking for.”

The functionality of the app includes:

·         Users can search for Android or iOS apps and find the Windows equivalent

·         Users can browse recent, popular and top rated ‘matches’

·         Users are directed straight to the Windows store page for ease of download

Rhys Little, Creative Director at Plug and Play Design, commented: “Cameron has created an app that has a genuine use and will no doubt be a great tool for Windows users. AppSwitch is simple and well designed, quick to get running, easy to use and free to download. What more do you want in an app?  For developers it gives them a leg up in showcasing their app to the burgeoning Windows marketplace.”
