EBay all but confirmed it is looking at cutting its staff at PayPal, the online payment system that is its biggest growth engine, but questions still remain over what exactly those changes will be.
In the company’s conference call with analysts to discuss its third-quarter earnings, eBay Chief Executive John Donahoe was asked about recent reports that PayPal’s new head is looking at job cuts.
Last week, Bloomberg reported that PayPal could cut as many as 400 jobs, out of its total workforce of 13,000 employees.
“Since David [Marcus] has taken over, he is taking what is in essence nine different product organizations across PayPal and streamlining and consolidating them into one global product organization,” Donahoe said. “PayPal employees know about that. We haven’t finally landed on the impact of that.” Read: EBay posts higher profit.
