Check if you feature on this shortlist of the most innovative and original mobile marketing campaigns, solutions and apps

Mobile Marketing magazine today revealed its shortlist of the most innovative and original mobile marketing campaigns, solutions and apps.

A chance to be recognised at the Effective Mobile Marketing Awards ceremony on 29 November at the London Film Museum.

More than 200 potential winners have been whittled down to a shortlist made up of a collection of the most exciting campaigns in mobile marketing over the past 12 months.

Mobile marketing campaigns that have delivered real business results will be recognised across 19 categories, including the Most Effective Mobile App (b2c, b2b and Tablet), the Most Effective Mobile Advertising Campaign and the Most Effective mCommerce Solution.

David Murphy, editor of Mobile Marketing magazine and chair of judges for the Effective Mobile Marketing Awards, said: “Mobile marketing is fast becoming a crucial activity for businesses worldwide, with stats from Google recently stating that nearly 80% of people said they use their phones for shopping, with over half of them making a purchase from their mobile.[1]

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the outstanding examples of mobile marketing this year from brands and agencies worldwide, and there was some pretty cool stuff that didn’t make the cut, such was the standard of this year’s entries. We’d like to congratulate the finalists and thank the judges for all of their hard work. We’re looking forward to showcasing the winners on 29 November.”

There were dozens of outstanding entries this year, form major global brands and agencies. Barclays is up for an award in two categories, for its Pingit peer-to-peer payment solution, and the Barclays Bikes mobile app that helps Londoners find a bike to hire to get them around town, and, just as importantly, find somewhere to dock it when they reach their destination.

“The quality of entries this year has been outstanding,” continued Murphy.

The Augmented Reality (AR) category has some amazing stuff in there, like Blippar’s AR makeover for Stylist magazine, and XS2’s app for the Gadget Show, which gave users a 360-degree real-time view of the studio as a trailer was being filmed. But away from the bleeding-edge glitz of AR, we’ve seen some solid entries in the Mobile Site and mCommerce categories as brands begin to recognize the power of mobile as a channel for doing business. The winners are a closly-guarded secret until the ceremony next month, of course, but watch out for some surprises.”

[1]The study was conducted by interviewing 5,013 U.S. adults (aged 18-64) about their phone usage. Although these results pertain to American users, a representative from Google said they’ve seen similar data in other countries.
