A top-rated digital and creative media agency made a big impact at a prestigious awards ceremony when it saw off competition from top names such as Tesco and O2 to win the accolade of Best Use of Online Video.
NÜKO, the new division of Hampshire-based marketing and communications agency Remarkable Group, won at the London Digital Impact Awards for a hugely successful campaign film which went viral and secured over 800,000 YouTube views in its first week online.
NÜKO went head-to-head on the shortlist against high level entries from Tesco, O2, Microsoft and Corning Incorporated, and came away from the ceremony on Tuesday October 16th at The Brewery in London with another prize to add to its growing collection.
The mini-movie, ‘Homecoming’, was created by NÜKO’s head of film and video, Mike Buonaiuto, after a commission from the Coalition for Equal Marriage as part of its campaign to change the law to give equal status to same-sex weddings.
It was also highly commended for the Best Use of Digital by Charity.
NÜKO digital account director Emily Wilkinson said: “The result is a huge boost for NÜKO and gains us national recognition from what is the UK’s largest celebration of digital communication.
“We are a new and growing agency so to have the power of our work recognised in this way – against such massive names – shows we are making a big impact and achieving great things for our clients.”
Remarkable Group chief executive Stephen Pomeroy said: “This video is a formidable example of how to grab the attention of thousands of people to help force a campaign issue up the political agenda.
“We’re very proud of the award which is an achievement reflecting the dedication, talents and vision of our team at NÜKO, and their ability to take on such a wide variety of subjects.”
NÜKO was launched this summer at Remarkable Group in Winchester. It was formed by uniting into one team the former three sections of digital, video and creative.
NÜKO’s ‘Homecoming’ video also won the Best Use of Social Media category in the CIPR Awards Wessex and Channel Islands. It was runner-up in the Viral Communication section of the Digital Communication Awards Europe, and has been shortlisted for the Low Budget category in the Cream Awards.
