Getting Spotify on your Samsung Smart TV will be easy

Samsung Electronics, the UK’s number one TV brand with the most awarded TV range1, will be the first TV manufacturer to bring the leading digital music service Spotify to the big screen with the launch of a new app for the Samsung Smart TV range today.

Spotify, which offers instant, on-demand access to a library of more than 18 million* songs, will be available for TV as a result of a unique partnership between the two entertainment brands, Samsung Electronics and Spotify.

Getting Spotify on your Samsung Smart TV will be easy: simply download the Spotify application to your internet-connected Samsung Smart TV, your Blu-ray player or home theatre system, and log on. Spotify Premium subscribers will immediately be able to enjoy, discover and share music on Spotify, and see all of their playlists. It will be easy to use Spotify on your Samsung Smart TV as the user interface has been designed especially for television screens and your Spotify playlists will automatically sync across all devices.

“We are thrilled to debut the new Spotify app on Samsung Smart TVs, which will make listening to favourite tracks even easier for our customers who will no longer have to worry about connecting cables from their laptop or tablet to their Hi-Fi equipment. For the first time, they will be able to use their Samsung Smart TVs and home theatre systems to enjoy Spotify’s huge music library from the comfort of their living room,” said Dan Saunders, Director of Content Services, Samsung Electronics, Europe.

“It’s our dream to make all the world’s music available instantly to everyone, everywhere, and bringing our service to Samsung Smart TVs is taking us another step closer to turning this dream into reality,” said Pascal de Mul, Global Head of Hardware partnerships, Spotify. “The television is at the heart of most people’s home entertainment experience, so it is a natural fit to make our music service available on internet-connected Smart TVs.”

The Spotify Smart TV App will join a growing collection of Apps available on Samsung Smart TVs including ITV Player, YouTube, BBC Sport, Teletext Holidays, Facebook and Twitter giving viewers a huge choice of content and entertainment through their television. ‘Samsung Apps’ is the first and biggest App store available for TVs, with over 20 million Apps already downloaded worldwide, proof that consumers are rapidly embracing the Smart TV format.

The new App will be available initially on the Samsung Series 7 and 8 Smart TVs today and will be rolled out for the rest of the range at the end of the month. The service will be included for all existing Spotify Premium users with a compatible Samsung internet-connected Smart TV.
