Martin Gill, a Principle Analyst in eBusiness and Channel Strategy, believes changes in mainstream consumer behaviour cannot be ignored by retailers, and goes as far as to say that those who do not go digital, are closed for business. Martin’s talk happens at 11.20pm in Stream 1 at the Internet Retailing Conference 9th October at the Novotel, Hammersmith, London
Martin’s research at Forrester has demonstrated that 53% of online shoppers are already adopting click and collect and safely predicts that by 2016 14% of UK retail will be sold online.
At the 7th Internet Retailing Conference, which takes place on 9th October at the Novotel, Hammersmith, London, Martin will be instructing retailers how they can confidently change their retail experience and reorganise their brand to serve the multi-touch points expected by today’s savvy consumer.
Martin says “The retail world is going to look very different in 10 years’ time. We will be talking seriously about the start of the demise of cash, through the uptake of mobile wallets and the re-invention of the retail store into an experiential engagement that will see shops as places to view products and order from. It won’t be possible to think of the internet as “something other folks do”. Businesses will either be fundamentally digital, or they won’t exist.”
Martin’s talk happens at 11.20pm in Stream 1 at the Internet Retail Conference. Other headline speakers include Kiddicare, Marketing Director and Morrison’s CEO Alison Lancaster, Carphone Warehouse CEO, Andrew Harrison and Shop Direct Director of Ecommerce Jonathan Wall.
