Giving new meaning to the term “fashion love in” Burberry’s Christopher Bailey has christened his latest collection Trench Kisses.
The autumn/winter offering, unveiled in Kensington Gardens this afternoon, saw a host of fabrics printed with a black love heart motif and used to create buttoned-down silk blouses, PVC pencil skirts and trench coats.
The show was watched by Rita Ora, Kate Beckinsdale and Freida Pinto who wore Burberry – of course – and sat front-row.
Ora wore a teal blue suit from the label’s current season collection while Pinto chose one of the brand’s signature trench coats.
Bailey, a tireless campaigner for the trench coat, unveiled a whole host of interpretations for next winter. Forsaking classic gabardine for plastic, the designer unveiled a series which seemed to ooze with sex appeal.
Gold gladiator collars and belts served as trims on outerwear. Transparent plastic pencil skirts and cocktail dresses finished with large metal motifs accentuated this collection’s identity as an eveningwear offering for women with very special places to go.
But it wasn’t all about in your face glamour, there was subtly luxurious pieces in there too.
Acutely aware of the ever expanding customer demand across the globe for beautifully crafted basics, Bailey sent out thick woollen ribbed sweaters in jewel shades and exquisitely crafted winter coats.
Among the stand out on offer today was a slouch sleeve cocoon style modelled by Burberry girl and model of the moment Cara Delevingne.
