2ergo has signed a major deal for its mobile loyalty system that enables the University of Salford Students’ Union to ‘close the loop’ – targeting and tracking exactly who uses their mobile coupons.
The podifi technology, which is the result of over 10 years mobile experience will be rolled out by the University of Salford Students’ Union later this month.
Trialled by O2 last year in Dublin Docklands, the Podifi technology will enable both on and off campus shops, restaurants and bars to instantly send deals and money-off coupons to the University’s 20,000 students via a smartphone app. Students can then redeem offers by simply tapping their smartphone over a pod at till points in five on-campus stores and at over fifty local retailers.
Chris Pickford, Project Manager from 2ergo explains: “Until now, students’ unions like other venues have relied upon onerous manual processes to track the success of promotional activity. The podifi platform allows the Students’ Union and local Merchants to quickly create new promotions enticing students to visit and redeem the offers quickly and reliably. This simple in-store process also allows our clients to learn more about their customers and the success of offers more accurately.
“As well as making marketing more targeted, it also enables retailers to work together towards a common goal. University of Salford Students’ Union will be able to consolidate offers from local retailers into one app – making it simple for both students and retailers to get the best deal.”
Helen Robinson Marketing Manager for University of Salford Students Union, said: “Mobile is easily the most efficient and targeted way to communicate with our student community. So as well as keeping students up to date with all the Union has to offer them during their time at University, the new app will help them get the best deals – both on and off campus – at a time when they are facing more financial pressure than ever before.
“We’re excited to be the first students’ union to access this technology and anticipate that it will have a major impact for both students and local businesses.”
