Iceland Foods has announced it is to trial an online shopping service in selected locations across the UK.
The new system will be an extension of its already popular home delivery service, which is currently free for those spending £25 or more in store. The same spend will be required for those trying its new online option, and will allow shoppers to make orders up to 10pm to qualify for free next day delivery.
The frozen foods retailer has already began piloting the scheme in number of stores in the North West, North East, South West and throughout London. And with Iceland reporting “very encouraging results” for the start-up, it is believed the service will roll out across all UK regions later this year.

John Mackie, Iceland’s director of delivered sales, explained: “We are delighted with the positive initial response to the local trials of our online service. This is exceeding our expectations for the number and size of orders we have received, and for the proportion of new customers to Iceland that the service is attracting.”
Iceland has also been providing customers with more ways to pay, and is the first UK food retailer to accept orders made through PayPal as well as traditional card methods.
