Sky Media and AMV win at NABS industry fun run

More than 250 people from the advertising and media world took their traditional industry rivalry out of the boardroom and onto the running track on Tuesday evening, all in aid of the NABS Centenary Fun Run.

The race, back by popular demand after a two year absence, took place at Battersea Park over both 5 and 10k circuits as competitors lined up against each other to raise funds for NABS.

In the 5k competition, Sky Media was crowned champion, taking home all the titles. Sandy McDougall was the fastest woman with an astonishing time of 18 minutes 20 seconds, beating her Sky Media counterpart Dominic Bosher who was the fastest man with a time of 19 minutes and 18 seconds. The Sky Media team also took home the team race title with a team average time of 20 minutes and 54 seconds.

The 10k run turned out to be a tightly-matched affair. Ben Moutrie (Carat) finished as the fastest man with a time of 36 minutes and 19 seconds, beating second place Chris Cavey (Last Exit) by one second. Rosalind Lee finished as the fastest woman, completing the course in 43 minutes and 26 seconds.

The 10k team race proved to be an even tighter contest, with a nail-biting finish. Congratulations went to Cheil UK which was the first full team across the finish line with a team average time of 47 minutes and 59 seconds. But Cheil was pipped at the post by second placed adam&eveDDB, which finished on 46 minutes and 7 seconds, and overall winner AMV BBDO, which won the race on a team average time of 45 minutes and 53 seconds.

Zoë Osmond, chief executive officer, NABS said: “The ad and media world turned out in force to exert their competitive spirit in the park rather than in the office, and it turns out we’ve certainly got some fleet-footed individuals who set some outstanding times.”

“Commitment to the cause was rife, with some even running through personal injuries, as ex-NABS president Stephen Woodward did, and others such as Cheil UK, which made sure they were seen by the competition as they donned luminous running gear. Our thanks go to all who took part and to our sponsors Yahoo! for making this another memorable NABS fundraiser.”
