(23rd July 2013) Today, cloud.IQ confirmed its position as one of the UK’s hottest TechCity start ups by being awarded £250,000 from the Technology Strategy Board, the UK’s innovation agency.
The award to cloud.IQ was made through the Technology Strategy Board’s Smart programme. To be considered for the scheme, businesses need to demonstrate an innovative idea which offers significant potential to help stimulate economic growth in the UK. Furthermore, we believe demonstrating the wider social impact of cloud.IQ’s idea was critical in securing the investment and setting the company apart from other entrants.
James Heydari, Technology Strategy Board Programme Manager, commented: “Smart awards support SMEs with high growth ambition and potential. Successful applicants need to show that they have a really innovative idea, addressing a real market need and have the ability to deliver their idea to drive economic growth.”
The range of businesses that could benefit from cloud.IQ’s technology is almost endless, from SMEs to charities through to online retailers and healthcare providers. Companies will now have access to technology that was previously unavailable to them -levelling the playing field against enterprise organisations.
The UK Government has placed significant emphasis on supporting SME businesses in the belief that it is small businesses, not enterprise organisations, that will lift the economy out of the current downturn. In response, cloud.IQ’s winning idea is to create an AppEditor. This is a web based tool that lets a non-technical person build, publish and monetise web apps which can integrate email, voice, web, social and mobile technologies into innovative services.
James Critchley, CEO and co-founder of cloud.IQ said; “In just 12 months, we ave launched a suite of apps for SMEs which have already delivered significant results in helping businesses convert more customers. The investment from the Technology Strategy Board provides us with a platform to bring to market a new solution which we believe will have an ever wider reach and impact on the businesses community.”
Critchley continues; “The Technology Strategy Board is the leader in supporting businesses with innovative ideas, so we are proud of this accolade and it’s testament to what we have achieved in such a short space of time.”
In May 2012, cloud.IQ received a £2million backing from growth company investor Bridges Ventutres. Over the past 12 months, cloud.IQ has launched a suite of conversion focused apps including callMe, cartRecovery and SmartSMS. All cloud.IQ apps are available from one online interface, providing marketers with a single dashboard and simplified digital marketing experience.
