Edinburgh Zoo has launched an experiential advertising campaign this summer to showcase its newly revamped “Koala Territory” – home to the UK’s only koalas. This innovative campaign, booked and planned with JCDecaux Airport by The Media Shop, will reach the domestic and international audiences as they arrive in the city’s airport.
Passengers arriving in Edinburgh Airport from the 29th of July will be welcomed by an unusual group of international travellers. A koala-themed zone will transform the arrivals hall into its own “Koala Territory”, with pillars camouflaged as eucalyptus trees, walls wrapped with 2-dimensional branding and six koalas hiding in the foliage.
Helen Arthurs, Marketing Manager for the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, who own and manage Edinburgh Zoo, said: “With Edinburgh Zoo’s popularity growing within the international market and visitors coming from further afield to spend the day with us, the airport offered us two things – the chance to promote ourselves in a dynamic and creative way, and the opportunity to reach our target audience and place us at the forefront of visitors’ minds as they plan their time in the city.
Also, the space the airport offered us has never been used in this way before and it is great for the Zoo to be part of something that has got people talking.”
Part of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland’s “whole year of celebrations”, which includes special events and promotions, this innovative campaign will encourage passengers to visit the newly revamped “Koala Territory”
