KESTER FIELDING:
Kester is the Global Demand Procurement Director at Diageo. He is responsible for sourcing all of Diageo Marketing Services globally from media, advertising, sponsorship, digital and point of sale. The amazing Diageo brands like Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Guinness etc rely on Kester to help them select the best agency resources, and ensure they get great value from them.
Prior to Diageo Kester was at The Coca-Cola Company and oversaw their media management processes, agencies and product across Europe, Middle East And Africa, he also has an agency background having started his career at McCann Erickson.
Kester has seen the marketing services industry explode with a proliferation of specialisms – agencies of all types have evolved, and all fight for clients’ budgets. He has also seen the organisations he has worked for globalise; affording consolidation opportunities, but also new challenges in the Asian and African markets. He acts as a critical link between marketers, finance, and agencies and is especially well placed to help us understand the procurement imperative, and the role they have in driving marketing integration.
SHILEN PATEL:
Shilen is co-founder of Independents United, a London based innovation agency that creates, and invests in, digitally disruptive ideas. Fiercely independent, the agency is quite different from many, more traditional, agencies. For example, they recently founded Distill Ventures, the world’s first accelerator for startup spirits entrepreneurs, in partnership with Diageo. IU have worked with brands like Johnnie Walker, Asos, BBC and Vue, helping to accelerate their businesses through smart strategy, rapid product development and innovative marketing.
Prior to Independents United, Shilen was Managing Partner at Marinate, a marketing innovation consultancy. He began his career as a strategy consultant before moving into marketing with Guinness where, amongst other things, he helped to turn around a 20 year decline in the brand in Ireland.
Shilen completes our line-up of people who have made successful careers “crossing lines” of agency/client/marketing/investor. He brings his passion for good strategy and faultless execution across any medium.
