Video / Sainsbury’s left red-faced as they feature rival Co-op products in Christmas telly ad

The supermarket giants aired their much-hyped telly commercial for the first time last night.

The company splashed out on the whole ad break during Wednesday’s Coronation Street to launch their campaign.

But, unusually, they featured RIVAL Co-operative products in the film!

During one scene, a man describes how to cook the perfect Christmas dinner.

Yet, on his kitchen work surface, he displays Co-op’s Truly Irresistible lemon torte, Christmas pudding and Christmas cake!

A spokeswoman for Sainsbury’s competitors said: “It seems that our Truly Irresistible Christmas pudding, lemon torte and Christmas cake are so good even Sainsbury’s can’t resist advertising them.

“We’re delighted that our delicious Christmas food products have made it into their ad. It certainly gave us a chuckle when we spotted them.”
