Propeller will drive a PR programme which raises the profile of Oxford-based Rebellion as a leading European games developer and a British success story.
Rebellion is the brainchild of brothers Jason and Chris Kingsley who have turned their passion for computer games into a burgeoning bastion of British business.
Established in 1992, the studio quickly made an immediate impact with seminal shooter Aliens vs Predator and today it is renowned for producing video games based on their own IP, such as the Sniper Elite series.
In 2000 Rebellion bought the famed UK sci-fi comic publisher 2000 AD, which has led to several comic-to-game smash hits, including Judge Dredd: Dredd Vs. Death and Rogue Trooper. Jason and Chris Kingsley also co-produced the 2012 film adaptation, Dredd 3D.
Propeller will drive a PR programme which raises the profile of Oxford-based Rebellion as a leading European games developer and a British success story. In particular,at people spend more money each year on video games than they do on films so the gaming industry has a hugely positive impact on the UK economy. Yet despite this it doesn’t always get the credit it deserves when compared to other entertainment sectors and this is something we’re keen to change through our own PR activities.”
Kieran Kent, managing director at Propeller, said: “Rebellion is a real British success story – a business set up by two brothers 20 years ago that has established itself at the forefront of the gaming industry and developed a portfolio of titles that are loved by gaming enthusiasts. They also have some spokespeople with colourful stories that we’re really looking forward to taking to market. When a business has been thriving for 20 years and has worked in an industry which has changed dramatically over that time, you know they’re doing something right.
Rebellion is the kind of British business which helps put the UK games industry on the map globally.”
