London. May 2014. adconnection, @adconnectionUK the leading independent media planning and buying agency, will challenge a shortlist of media owners to present a five minute innovative media idea in its annual ‘Innovations Challenge’ #InnovationsChallenge competition.

The competition will take place on Wednesday, May 7th at adconnection’s London head office.

A shortlist of ten media departments, spanning traditional media channels as well as mobile and digital publishers, will be taking part. Competing teams from companies such as Exterion, The FT, Telegraph Media Group,  Sky Media, Weve, Powa, Nexus Engage & Exchange Lab will each have five minutes to present a new and original media solution in front of the entire adconnection account handling team. Each media owner will be scored based on the quality of the idea and how it was presented. Details of the winning initiative will be published via social media, trade press and will be communicated to adconnection’s client base.

The 2013 Innovations Challenge was held last year and was won by John Firth of IPC Media.

Nick Baum, Client Services Director at adconnection, said: “This is the third year of the challenge. It is a real inspiration for the agency’s media planning team and many of the innovations which featured have been incorporated into live campaigns. It is a challenge to squeeze one brilliant idea into a 5 minute presentation, but it’s a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase their brand to the adconnection team and the agency’s clients. Good luck to everyone involved!”

Dave Bamford, Head of Sales at Nexus Engage, added: “The Innovations Challenge is a great platform for us. The media landscape is constantly shifting and evolving and it’s key that we invest time and money in cutting edge innovation. Getting a new idea across effectively in such a short space of time means that we need to focus on maximum impact. We’re looking forward to rising to the Challenge.”
