Wimbledon’s all-white rules: A tradition gone too far?
The All England Club have long been praised for their attempts to keep Wimbledon traditional.
Central to those traditions is the insistence that players wear white while competing at SW19.
However, that tradition has become mired in controversy after Pat Cash claimed that some women had to change their bras because they did not conform to said dress code.
Cash made the claims on BBC radio stating that the All England Club had “absolutely gone ridiculous” in their endeavours to police the code – and criticised the “archaic thinking”.
Reacting to Cash’s claims, Caroline Wozniacki branded having an official checking her underwear and scrutinising her attire ‘pretty creepy’.
“I don’t think anyone is showing off their underwear like that. Getting it checked: that’s be pretty creepy,” she said.
