Sales soar for small businesses given ‘15 Seconds of Fame’ … iZettle’s Big Things Start Small campaign

Sales have soared for seven small businesses that received free advertising space on prime time television in November. Each company won a week’s worth of advertising on channels including Sky Sports, Sky News and Comedy Central after entering iZettle’s 15 Seconds of Fame competition in October 2015.

Hundreds of small businesses throughout the UK submitted 15 seconds videos about their company to be in with a chance of winning.  Six of the businesses that won the competition were chosen by iZettle. The seventh was up to the public and thousands of people across the UK voted for their favourite submission to win.

Amy Crabtree, clothes and accessories designer, was one of the winners awarded for her colourful entry.

“I can’t believe how much a week’s advertising boosted my sales,” said Amy. “Compared to the average week there was a 1600% increase in orders. Our website cakeswithfaces.co.uk had 10 times more traffic than usual. We even had to upgrade the hosting to cope with the increase in traffic!”

Here is a full list of the winners and their adverts:

•  The Counter, an independent coffee seller.
•  Cakes with Faces, a design company.
•  Fish Dog, a food truck.
•  Merlin’s of Wakefield, a magic store.
•  Peculiar Vintage, a jeweller.
•  The Cat Doctor, a specialist vet.

Winner of the People’s Choice Award (voted for by thousands):

•  Wedding Foam Flowers, a bridal florist.

“We’re always looking at ways we can help small businesses,” says Johan Bendz, CMO at iZettle. “From taking payments to advertising on the television, we want to equip small businesses with the tools to compete with bigger businesses.”

iZettle’s 15 Seconds of Fame competition was part of iZettle’s Big Things Start Small campaign, which champions small businesses.
