Appointment coincides with a series of new European customer wins including Mothercare, Gymshark, Pret, Anya Hindmarch, and Space NK
Astound Commerce, the global ecommerce provider, today announced the appointment of Terry Hunter as UK Managing Director. Terry will operate from Astound’s new London office in Hoxton Square, gained as part of Astound’s recent takeover of the UK team running digital creative agency Firedog.
Astound also took the opportunity to announce five new European customer wins, including Mothercare, Gymshark, Pret, Anya Hindmarch, and Space NK.
Tasked with heading up Astound’s UK operations, Hunter is the founder and former CEO of ecommerce consultancy Tryzens. He brings over 20 years of enterprise technology leadership expertise to the role, together with more than a decade’s experience in digital design and delivery. The appointment comes as Astound Commerce, which already serves many of the world’s premier brands and retailers – including Adidas, Bally, Belstaff, Jimmy Choo, L’Oreal, and Under Armour – looks to establish a base of operations for Astound in the UK to drive its European business forward.
Commenting on Hunter’s appointment, Astound Commerce’s COO, Roman Martynenko, said: “We see Europe, and particularly the UK, as an important growth market for the company. Leading the charge on such a key region required the expertise of someone who knew the marketplace inside out. Terry was the ideal candidate for the role and the wealth of experience he brings to Astound is invaluable.”
Hunter added: “There are real challenges for retailers right now as they get to grips with what it means to deliver an omni-channel experience for consumers. Complex new eCommerce requirements are being driven by customer expectations, but very few are getting it right. There is a responsibility for service providers to help meet this demand, and I’m looking forward to demonstrating how Astound is ideally positioned to make this a reality for retailers across Europe.”
Following recent acquisitions, Astound Commerce is now one of the world’s largest cross-platform eCommerce solution providers with more than 600 staff located in 10 offices worldwide. The company’s expertise across a wide range of CMS and eCommerce platforms, plus the extension of brand experience through mobile devices and social media, means Astound is ideally positioned to meet the ever-changing requirements of both national and international retailers.
