BBC Gardeners’ World Live are proud to announce the launch of the Rose Festival at this year’s show at the NEC Birmingham (16-19 June), in conjunction with Roses UK, which will feature within the Floral Marquee in 2016 and beyond.
The area brings together some of the country’s leading rose growers under one roof, giving visitors an unrivalled opportunity to buy a wide range of roses from specialists including Apuldram, Harkness Roses, Peter Beales Roses, Pocock’s Roses and Styles Roses – all under one roof. There will also be a rose sundries shop, so visitors can go home with everything they need to grow these wonderful plants successfully. Plus, it’s expected that there will be several new rose varieties launching at BBC Gardeners’ World Live, available for Show visitors to buy.
In addition, the Rose Festival will feature a brand new rose demonstration stage where the experts will share hands-on skills and techniques, including pruning and companion planting.
Organisers are proud to announce the launch of the new Eve Rose at the Show, named for The Eve Appeal charity and introduced by Harkness Roses and Roses UK. This charming floribunda produces long lasting clusters of bloom in a bright pink showing contrasting yellow centres, an attraction for foraging bees. Foliage is plentiful and glossy. Add in the clarity and brightness of the colour and a refreshing spicy perfume and the result is a rose to enjoy in every garden.
Wyevale Garden Centres will be adding to the rose frenzy with a Rose Garden. This walk-through Show Garden, designed by award-winning garden designer Alexandra Froggatt, is a traditional design inspired by the landscapes and gardens of Capability Brown, as a celebration of the 300th anniversary of his birth. Visitors will be able to enter the Summer House and walk into a romantic, enchanted and fragrant rose-lover’s dream.
Show Director Bob Sweet says: “As one of the most popular plants for UK gardeners, it seems fitting to dedicate an area of the show to roses. We’re especially pleased to welcome Wyevale Garden Centres’ Rose Garden inspired by Capability Brown in this the 300th year anniversary of his birth.”
