Daring adverts draw audiences into The Lion’s Den

An award winning advertising company has lifted the curtain of secrecy to reveal that they are behind a show-stopping national advertising campaign which has created a storm of intrigue online.

Featuring a dramatic image of a big cat emerging from a shadowy stage and the challenge Dare you enter the lion’s den?, the UK-wide billboard ad design has showcased S3 Advertising’s creative abilities and caused a stir on social media.

S3 created ‘The Lion’s Den’ as a self-promotional, multiple city centre campaign on a concept originating from the nickname for the company’s new One Central Square offices in Cardiff.

The mechanic focused on the advertising of a fictional big cat attraction using eye catching imagery and plenty of mystery to generate an online buzz and ultimately lead back to S3.

Inspired by Cirque du Soleil, the carnival themed creative of the advert was designed to act as a teaser for the ‘attraction’ and evoke intrigue, prompting the audience to find out more.

The lion is hidden in the shadows behind lavish stage curtains, lit by theatre-style spotlights, and framed by neon signs and smoke, with copy kept to a minimum to emphasise the design.

S3’s web team created the dedicated landing page to tie in directly with the advertisement, reinforcing the brand identity and continuing the intrigue. Animated aspects of the design, including swirling smoke and the lion moving towards the screen, helped to bring the original artwork to life in a digital format.
