Sooner or later, it happens to most of us. Maybe we are facing a company lay-off.
Or if we work for the United States government, we may face a shutdown at some time in our career. Sometimes, our hours are cut due to a poor sales year, or maybe our jobs have not changed but our lives have.
Extensive medical bills, house repairs, or automobile problems have cut into our income, and we need to find a way to work more.
According to Forbes Magazine, in 2018 there were 7.4 million American working multiple jobs. But, there is good reason to assume that those numbers are very low, when a person works a full time job, they have Income Taxes, Social Security, and Medicare out of their checks.
When they have found their best side hustle, they normally try to strike a deal with the CEO or owner of the company. They bring to the table a solid background with current experience. If they have been working with the government, you will be aware of any new laws that may not have come to his attention yet. This relationship can help both of you.
Freelancers. In The United States, if you make an income from one source per year that pays you less than $600.00, you do not have to file it on your taxes.

Blogging
If you are a blogger, this is a great way to make extra money.
You can blog while you work your primary job and boost it up with advertising, guest bloggers, and influencers when you are leaning on it for more income.
If you begin bringing life to your blog with powerful backlinks, do not make the mistake of bringing their guest to a stale site. Take the time to refresh and renew your site. If you have neglected to answer any questions, email, or notes, take care of that.
When someone operates a blog “part-time” it is easy to let time slip away. But is is not a good idea to invite new member to a neglected site. So, before you bring anyone in, do a bit of housekeeping.
Researching
Are you really good at tracking your family tree? Do you get into it and just cannot stop? If so, consider lending your services out for a fee. Learn all you can from your clients. Use the same tools you used for your own search.
Note: If you are going to do this for money, you should invest in the paid sites. The free sites are too limited to give you thorough information. Check out some of the other researchers websites so you will know how to word your contract. You cannot guarantee results, but you can guarantee a thorough check.

Child Care
Some parents work outside the home. Others work from home. Regardless, there is always situations when we need someone to care for our child/children.
If the parents are going for some serious medical tests or procedures, or for a business meeting, they may not want their to worry about their children. You can offer your child care services for a reasonable fee.
Meals
There is nothing in the world a working couple appreciates more than a home cooked meal. Set up a website with your weekly menu and price. Take your orders and deposits one week in advance for the meals.
Ask the customers if they want their meal frozen or just refrigerated. If they want it frozen, prepare it in advance and write their names on each container and number them. Example: Jones ¼. This means the Jones family has a total of 4 containers.
Shopping
It is really hard when you lose your job near the holiday season. If you worked for the government in 2018, you know that first hand.
It is a horrible thing to have to choose between getting your son the bike he has been asking for all year or paying the electric bill.
One of the best side hustles we saw was bonded government employees hiring their services out to people who were elderly, disabled, or sick to do their shopping. Sometimes they wanted mall shopping. Sometimes they wanted toy shopping. But sometimes they just wanted fresh vegetables.
More Holiday Hustles
It never failed. When I came in with an arm full of presents, my elderly patient would get excited asking me to put up her tree, decorate the living room, hang the wreath, or anything else she wasn’t able to do.
As you can see there are plenty of side hustles that you can do. Just think of all the skills you that you have cultivated in the past. You may not have used the recently, but there is nothing saying you can’t.
There are plenty of side hustles you can do your job goes south. It is wise to have a plan of action. You will be ready with your best side hustle while everyone else is still in shock.
