Anna Soubry was quizzed by Sky News presenter Sophy Ridge on whether she feels “stranded” after a number of MPs quit Change UK and if she is “on speaking terms” with former party spokesman Chuka Umunna.

Speaking from a ‘People’s Vote’ rally in Leeds on Saturday, Ms Soubry replied: “No, I have these four other colleagues and we are absolutely as one, the five of us.
“Between us we have many years experience in politics, obviously some more than myself, Mike Gapes being a very good example of that, Ann Coffey, of course Joan Ryan and Chris Leslie of course has been a member of Parliament for many years.
“So we’re all on absolutely the same page, we believe with a passion that there is a need for that centrist, progressive, sensible party in our country that isn’t in competition with parties like the Lib Dems, on the contrary.
“We absolutely compliment each other. But it’s the regaining of that centre ground, we have planted our flag in it and we intend to do everything we can now to build a party and in due course we will field candidates as and when we feel it is right so to do.”
