According to recent data from OnlyAccounts.io, Instagram has emerged as the top social media platform for 16.5% of internet users in 2023, surpassing Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. With more than 2.4 billion monthly active users and over 500 million daily users, Instagram continues to solidify its position as one of the largest social media platforms globally.
HubSpot’s 2023 Social Media Marketing Report reveals that nearly a quarter of marketers believe Instagram offers the greatest potential for audience growth, outperforming TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube. Furthermore, the latest Digital 2024 Global Overview Report indicates that Instagram is preferred by 16.5% of social media users aged 16 to 64, marking a nearly 1% increase from the previous year.
Although Facebook remains the second most popular social media platform, its share among users dropped to 12.8%, as reported by DataReportal. Instagram’s popularity is notably double that of TikTok, with only 7.4% of respondents naming it as their favorite platform.
Formerly known as Twitter, X holds a 3.2% share among social media users, consistent with the previous year. Conversely, Line, Pinterest, and Snapchat are among the least favored platforms, with shares of 1.7%, 1.5%, and 1.3%, respectively.
In terms of usage time, Instagram ranks among the most utilized platforms, with Android users spending an average of 15 hours and 50 minutes per month on the app in 2023—a significant increase from the previous year. However, TikTok remains the leader in this category, with users spending an average of 34 hours and 8 minutes per month on the platform.
