Red Dog Saloon – “Only the brave should try their hand at the famous ‘Devastator Challenge’

Authentic Kansas City Bar-B-Q, soon opening in Southampton. Meat your maker!

As part of cult American eatery, Red Dog Saloon’s, target to open 60 sites across the UK, the saloon-doors will open to its fifth restaurant on Tuesday 27th December. Alongside existing locations in London and Nottingham, this will be the group’s South Coast debut. It also forms part of the brand new £85 million WestQuay Watermark leisure and dining hub in Southampton, home to over 20 restaurants alongside a bowling alley and 10-screen cinema.

A family-run business, Red Dog offers a wide range of mouth-watering dishes – from towering burgers and plentiful wings, to flavourful ribs and pulled pork. A pioneer in American BBQ techniques, Red Dog uses only the finest quality cuts of meat to smoke for up to 18 hours over aromatic hickory wood in its US-imported award-winning smokers – making it the go-to place for diners who love authentic American food.

Only the brave should try their hand at the famous ‘Devastator Challenge’; three 6oz steak burger patties served with 200g of pulled pork, six applewood smoked bacon rashers and six slices of cheese. To complete the all-American experience, meals are accompanied by a huge selection of imported American beers and cocktails, alongside no fewer than 17 different sipping tequilas, milkshakes and American classics, such as Root Beer.

Commenting on the opening, which has created 45 new jobs in the local area, owner Tom Brooke said: “We’ve set ourselves the goal of becoming the number one American restaurant brand in the UK and, as part of our ambitious growth plans, Southampton is the perfect location for us. We have already established a loyal following in our other sites and, as such, are thrilled to bring a truly authentic, high quality American dining experience to the South Coast.

“Being part of the new Watermark development in the heart of Southampton is extremely exciting for us and is set to be a real destination for anyone looking to visit the city. This is our second venture outside of London and we look forward to providing delicious food, a fantastic drink selection and vibrant atmosphere to all those who visit.”

Red Dog’s 3,506 sq ft restaurant is located on the lower promenade and caters for 160 covers.
