Roger Federer is appearing alongside celebrated actress Anne Hathaway, the 20-time Grand Slam tennis champion featured in an outtake about the swiss commercial final cut. Both of them were unhappy with the commercial they saw in the editing room, They were complaining that they were upstaged by Switzerland’s amazing scenery.
A shot of the two driving along the visually stunning Furka Pass showcases a rather small car against the amazing backdrop of the Swiss mountain ranges, which promptsRoger Federer and Hathaway to wonder why no one can see their faces or them. The director, however, is convinced that they have a “commercial masterpiece” on their hands.
The director emphasises that he had to make the director’s artistic choice because the on-screen chemistry between the pair was so “electric.”
The former World No. 1 then asked the director why he and Hathaway were made to do parkour twenty-two times over glaciers if only wide commercial shots were going to be used in the commercial video. But all the other creative people gathered in the room sided with the director, saying that they felt “goosebumps” watching the splendour of the glaciers.
A synchronized swimming video shot from the duo was left out of the final cut of the commercial, but technicians admitted that Roger Federer’s stomach abs looked “amazing” in the now-deleted scene.
A frustrated Roger pointed out that his stomach abs couldn’t be seen, which led one creative writer in the room to come up with a clever idea for what the tagline for Swiss tourism could be.
“Maybe we should write something like, “The Grand Tour [of Switzerland, even more, majestic than Roger Federer’s abs,”” he said.
With Roger threatening to lose the plot, Anne Hathaway ushered him out of the editing room, saying that they should “take a quick break.” The American proceeded to warn Roger that she would not be doing his next commercial and that he would be better off making a request to Meryl Streep.
As they walk away, the tagline of the swiss commercial is revealed through a voiceover: “Anne and Roger learned the hard way that no one upstages the Grand Tour of Switzerland.”
