The pub in the Oxfordshire village where hit BBC series The Vicar of Dibley was filmed is for sale. It’s a foodie destination pub, is it for you..
The pub in the Oxfordshire village where hit BBC series The Vicar of Dibley was filmed has come onto the market to rent from Brakspear.
The Bull & Butcher in Turville, a quintessentially English village close to Henley-on-Thames, has welcomed a string of film and television crews over the years. Apart from ‘Dibley’, the village, with its 10th century church, has been the setting for Midsomer Murders, Miss Marple, Goodnight Mr Tom and the classic children’s film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
The pub has been operated as a destination food outlet, serving up to 200 covers on Sundays during the summer, when its idyllic setting and reputation for quality dining attract customers from as far afield as London. At the same time, it has a busy year-round wet trade, as one of the most popular pubs in the area.
Brakspear chief executive Tom Davies said:
“The Bull & Butcher is one of the jewels in the Brakspear estate thanks to its location, character and well-established food trade. We believe it is an attractive proposition, ideally for an experienced, food-oriented operator wanting to live in one of the prettiest villages in Oxfordshire – and occasionally rub shoulders with visiting TV celebrities.”
