Teens are bored with #Facebook?

Hidden in the depths of Facebook’s, annual 10-k report was an interesting admission that the younger users were moving away from Facebook and actively engaging in the use of other products:

We believe that some of our users, particularly our younger users, are aware of and actively engaging with other products and services similar to, or as a substitute for, Facebook. For example, we believe that some of our users have reduced their engagement with Facebook in favor of increased engagement with other products and services such as Instagram. In the event that our users increasingly engage with other products and services, we may experience a decline in user engagement and our business could be harmed.

Its not all bad though, as Facebook owns Instagram, but teenagers are increasingly looking for more intimate and private ways to share their photos and pictures.  This does not mean teenagers are not signing up for Facebook, and maintaining a profile, just that their activity levels on Facebook are decreasing.
