We spotted this story yesterday and after some intensive detective work we discovered it has had a definite impact all round but specifically with the national newspapers. Please check it out.

Boppl is a platform which enables customers, staff and owners of bars and restaurants to maximise time by providing users with the fastest way to order and pay for food and drink via their mobile phones. Users can not only order in advance, but also use the app to split bills and access loyalty rewards.
Users simply select a nearby bar or restaurant and then choose from a menu of items. All choices are illustrated with a photograph and are automatically updated to reflect what’s available in the listed venues.
It takes just a few clicks to complete a purchase (payment card details are captured and stored the first time the user purchases through the app).
Boppl benefits both diners and bar owners
Diners can order and collect when it’s convenient, skipping the wait when they arrive. Meanwhile bar and restaurant owners can boost revenue by preparing items in ‘downtime’ and reaching consumers who might otherwise pass by.
Venues signed up for launch include high profile partners such as Babel, Ember and The Warrington, and the app is already being used by 100 committed sites, which the company aims to increase to 600 within the next six months. Operators include Faucet Inns.
Winning awards as well as customers
Now, Boppl has been named as one of Mobile Entertainment magazine’s Top 50 Mobile Innovators for 2013.
The ME Top 50 Mobile Innovators project is now in its third year and aims to identify the British mobile companies that are truly raising the bar in the industry. It recognises the 50 most forward-thinking UK mobile firms in sectors including: gaming, social, location, payments, web, marketing, video, development and more.
This achievement comes after a number of recent successes for Boppl, including being named as ‘App of the Day’ by Mobile Entertainment magazine, and announced as one of five winners sharing a £1 million prize, given to British based start-up companies who build apps for Android and Apple smartphones by Judo Payments.
Shashi Fernando, CEO of Boppl, comments: “We’ve worked really hard to create an app that will hugely benefit the customer and the business owner, and plan to continue to build on the success we have already achieved, expanding Boppl’s reach and making it the number one app in this field. We already have over 100 venues committed to the app, with the aim of greatly increasing this over the next six months.”
