Consumers in the People’s Republic of China spent £177bn online in 2013, making China the largest online market in the world, having overtaken the US last year. And the high growth rate is set to continue; China’s online spend it is expected to be more than double that of the US by 2016.China has a population of more than 1.3 billion people with a relatively small youth segment, due partly to the one-child policy which resulted in lowering the birth rates by 350 to 400 million.
