Questions have been raised over Lidl’s plans to double its UK stores after the German company’s chief executive was replaced unexpectedly.
The group had planned to increase the number of British shops from 600 to more than 1,300. But yesterday global chief executive Karl-Heinz Holland was said to be leaving Lidl after ‘unbridgeable’ differences about future strategy.
