Dan Bramham, Senior Designer at Greenwich Design talks to The Marketing Blog about his top 5 inspirations….
1) Dark Chocolate
What is there not to love? Chocolate is everything to everybody. It is adorable, erotic and painful at the same time. I’m always drawn to the gorgeous packaging of many high-end dark chocolate brands – there is something more grown up and seductive about it.
If I had to take one item to a desert island, a perfectly packaged bar of devilish dark chocolate would do it for me.
2) Paintings with soul
I have always been fascinated by the work of abstract painters. They are such interesting people and amazingly many of which have remarkably down to earth backgrounds. From Mark Rothko to Mira Schendel, I take pleasure in many pieces – particularly those which bathe you with their brilliance and make you feel connected.
Yes I’m one of those people who simply love hats and I do have quite a collection. From merino wool to sheepskin, my particular favourite has to be this bobble hat with tassels which I bought on a trip to Lapland. It was screaming out to be worn. I’m sure there is a saying; if your head is warm your heart’s warm……
4) Adidas superstar trainers
I fell in love with the design of these trainers back in the 80’s and have been hooked on them ever since. They have to be the most iconic of the Adidas range. To have contrasting shell toe covers, stripes and trim is a must and I also love the herringbone sole. I must have owned 40- 50 pairs over the years and never wear anything else.
5) Skyway BMX
I’ve just realised there is a bit of a retro theme here! However my love of design dates way back to when I was a boy. I loved my BMX but I always dreamed of owning a Skyway, which all of the cool kids had. The unmistakable all-white colour-way flashing by would always grab your attention and leave you in absolute awe.
