A London branch of Sainsbury’s has come under fire after staff emptied its kosher food shelf over fears anti-Israeli protesters would target it.
Managers made the decision to remove meats, cheeses and even some non-kosher products after anti-Israeli campaigners picketed the store in Holborn, central London, on Saturday afternoon.
Actor Colin Appleby discovered the bare shelf and uploaded it to Facebook, prompting outrage from social media users.
He wrote: “Just popped into Sainsbury’s at Holborn and this is the content of their kosher section.
“I repeat this is their Kosher section. It contained produce made in the UK, Poland, and Israel.”
Mr Appleby wrote that when he asked a member of staff where the kosher products a staff member apparently replied: “We support Free Gaza.”
