One of the UK’s leading trade unions Community: The Union for Life, has chosen award-winning digital agency Redweb to design and build its new user-centric website.
In addition to developing an all-new site aesthetic, the Bournemouth-based agency will be working closely with the union to deliver a comprehensive restructure of its content and information architecture.
Usability and user experience will be at the core of a project that is focused on bringing Community’s current and prospective members an intuitive, interactive site to match the union’s high levels of service and representation.
Redweb brings valuable experience of working with a number of not-for-profit organisations to the project. As the winner of Most Innovative Digital Agency at the Econsultancy Innovation Awards in 2011 and 2012, it is also perfectly placed to partner Community in developing a website that reflects the forward-thinking vision and ethos the union adopts when representing its members.
Community has members representing a broad range of industries, including steel and wire, footwear, textiles and carpets, plastics, betting shops, voluntary organisations, the National League of the Blind and Disabled, and Logistics.

Special Projects Officer at Community, Oliver Stockley-von Statzer, said: “Redweb’s confidence in the delivery process and enthusiasm for our union’s ethos made us feel sure they were the right choice. We were impressed from the very early stages of our discussions with Redweb and their experience elsewhere in delivering projects of this size.”
Redweb CEO Andrew Henning added: “We are really excited to be working with Community. We always strive to understand the client as much as we can before any pitch, but our previous experience within this sector did allow us to look at the pitch in a new way, and in turn puts us in good stead for the rest of the project.”
Redweb and Community will be working closely throughout all phases of the project to combine their knowledge and experience, with the aim of launching the site at the end of this year.
