The Compare the Market videos have been popular ever since the little meerkats first starred on the big screen. In fact, according to Mintel, price comparison sites increased their spending on advertisements from £35 million to £85 million between 2006 and 2009 when Compare the Market first introduced Aleksandr Orlov, highlighting just how much this campaign raised the bar within the industry.

Since then, Compare the Market have released many adverts featuring the Russian Meerkat family, and this is one of the most popular which is no doubt all down to baby Oleg.

2. VIP Cigarettes

This saucy advert created by VIP never made it to television in its full format because it was deemed too raunchy. It got everyone talking though and definitely highlighted that e-cigarettes are for over 18s. The final cuts of their advert drew a lot of attention to the brand and the “tongue-in-cheek” approach allowed them to produce an advert without showing their product. It also became the first advertisement to ever show vaping, a tobacco-free alternative to smoking.
