Case Study: How to differentiate your business event

#HandCSocial taking place at Hotel Football in Manchester TOMORROW

Yes tomorrow, so how can something taking place tomorrow be a case study? We have featured the social media crusade #HandCSocial led by Hospitality & Catering News previously and having interviewed delegates know their events are highly thought of.

Nick Green, Head of Hotels and Restaurants UK at Villeroy & Boch

Nick Green, Head of Hotels and Restaurants UK at Villeroy & Boch puts is succinctly. ‘The calibre of delegates and the discussions around the table that flow are simply engaging. CEO’s, marketing executives and many roles in between meet and talk social media. There is no evangelising just sharing of solid experience.’

Not resting on any laurels initiatives for the next event at Hotel Football in Manchester are already in place. The event has been made carbon neutral through a collaboration with the Food for Thought initiative from Green Earth Appeal. With delegates travelling from all over the UK to attend the carbon footprint will be zero. This is achieved by offsetting through tree planting, a proven formula with restauranteurs like Marco Pierre White and James Martin amongst others.

The event will also be broadcasting live through Periscope reporting on what’s happening but not we are told the delegate discussions. We spoke with Denis Sheehan at the event organisers, Hospitality & Catering News. ‘Live events are a big challenge and as an organiser we step into the delegate’s shoes to understand their viewpoint and how we can justify our events as worthy of the time cost to those attending. So we need to be constantly looking at how we can improve the delegate experience. As #HandCsocial events are about social media it’s only fitting that we apply social media to the event. Periscope will add a fun element as all delegates can get involved, making events fun as we learned when we attended an experiential marketing masterclass recently held by BEcause XM at the Mondrian Hotel, London has numerous business benefits.

We try to keep our eyes and ears open for new ideas and if you are a like-minded marketer I can’t recommend attending one highly enough.

Broadcasting through Periscope came from one of the case studies at the masterclass and we have also created a custom TV for delegates to broadcast from. We know that some of our delegates are proficient users of periscope. So from a hotel 100yds across the road from the world famous home of Manchester United we will be inviting Periscope veterans and virgins to have a bit of fun. This not only adds to the event experience for delegates it equally importantly extends the reach of the event through amplified social sharing.’

The event will in part discuss the findings from a recent survey undertaken by Hospitality & Catering News, we will be reporting on this as well as the event itself, will it be the case study we expect?
