IoT is A-OK with consumers … ADI ‘Digital Trends Report’

As 2015 draws to a close, Adobe has released the findings of its 2015 ADI ‘Digital Trends Report’, which has revealed that consumers are embracing IoT technology with open arms.

The report found that 51% of smartphone owners have already interacted with a home IoT device, and based on analysis of over 20 million social engagements, 75% mention these devices in relation to joy, admiration, and anticipation.

The report also revealed that 33% of smartphone users have used a digital assistant in the last month, with Siri in the lead. The upcoming launch of Facebook M is a contender here though, and 20% of its mentions on social media reflect anticipation, which is four times the percentage of other digital assistants.

What’s more, the report found that wearable IoT has seen massive growth in 2015, with 25% of consumers owning a fitness tracker and 18% owning a smartwatch. However, the ADI forecasts that smartwatches will take the lead in 2016, as 37% of consumers intend to buy one in the next 6 months.
