ECR rolls out next generation international ticketing solution with Big Bus

ECR has today announced the roll out of its latest ticketing solution for Big Bus across six countries, following a successful six-year relationship.

The updated system, currently being implemented within the company’s longstanding territories Dubai, Hong Kong, Vienna, Rome, London and Paris, has been designed to automate the entire ticket sale process including taking credit/debit card transactions, in a single piece of mobile hardware, the lightweight ECR Go!, all-in-one handheld terminal.

The ECR Go! also comes with an on-board scanner and printer so tickets are created quickly and with ease.

Through its updated Application Programming Interface (API), the new solution is able to act as a product inventory by linking agents selling a wide range of tickets directly to Head Office.

Critically, it now enables Big Bus to move away from the four million various paper tickets currently in circulation.

Additionally, the solution provides a more accurate overview of true sales value at any given moment. Capable of calculating the Actual Ticket Price across tickets sold with variable rates of commission and currencies, it enables improved forecasting and greater transparency.

As part of the software upgrade, ECR will begin the roll out 500 ECR Go 2! Terminals into the 14 Big Bus global locations. This is the first all-in-one of its kind with contactless payment functionality, integral printer, 2D scanner, and full PCI and EMV compliance.

Gerry Price, EVP Engineering & Infrastructure at Big Bus, said: “ECR is a fantastic partner for Big Bus and has helped us significantly transform the service we provide to our customers over the past six years. Through its industry-leading technology and API, we are able to quickly and easily monitor the effectiveness of our sales teams and adopt our business strategy in line with changes to customer demand, in whatever country.”

Simon Pont, CEO at ECR Retail Systems, said: “These new terminals represent the latest in mobile payments technology, offering customers more flexible payments, whilst delivering up to the minute accuracy in sales and revenue reporting.

Having worked with Big Bus for over six years now, we know how important the ability to quickly process cash and card payments is to them as a business. We’re delighted to start the New Year on a strong note.”
