WPP’s global brand strategy and design agency, Brand Union, (www.brandunion.com) has announced the appointment of John Shaw to the newly created role of Chief Product Officer.
In this new role, John will be responsible for overseeing the agency’s product, from strategy and creative to design and technology, to help clients meet the wide variety of brand challenges they face today.
Shaw will work alongside Brand Union’s Worldwide CEO, Toby Southgate and CFO, Alex Spark, to drive value across everything the agency offers.
The role will entail uniting the company’s breadth of capabilities in strategy, creativity, design and technology to provide a more connected and powerful offering. John’s new role begins immediately.
‘It’s an unusual title but I like it for two reasons. The first is that it’s about encouraging a fluid relationship between strategy, creativity, and technology, which is vital in a fast-paced and results-driven environment. And the second is that it’s a reminder to be proud of our work and make sure that what we offer to clients is always fresh, attractive, and useful.’
Toby Southgate, Worldwide CEO at Brand Union commented:
“We can’t have a great company without a great product, and the creation of this role is a progressive step and lead indicator of change in the business. John is a remarkable guy and someone we are extremely fortunate to have on our team. His belief in the power of ideas, and in quality creative work, is unequivocal. He is best suited to ensure all our skills work together to provide effective solutions to brand challenges.
“This move will enable Brand Union to function at its best right across the network. The more connected we are as a business the stronger our offering will become. I believe this change will have a real impact on the way we run the agency moving forward.”
