Huge news. For a short time in September, Ikea meatballs will be a mere tube journey away for Londoners.
Ikea, love or hate it, is one of, if not the biggest furniture brand in the world. The Swedish company has championed the concept of do-it-yourself assembly since launching more than 70 years ago, and now it has taken a step further into the kitchen.
Ikea will be launching a pop up diner in Shoreditch, called The Dining Club, from 10th to the 25th September. Unlike any other restaurant, patrons will have to cook the meals themselves DIY style (so on brand). Before you say ‘well what’s the point in that?’, an expert chef along with a few famous-ish faces, will be on hand to guide diners through an interactive cooking workshop and masterclass.
The Dining Club will be able to cater for dinner parties of up to 20 people and you can even name the diner after yourself.
The whole point of this exercise is to promote and encourage people to make more time for cooking and socialising over dinner.
Diners can also browse an Ikea kitchen shop and a kitchen showroom as well. Dinner and shopping? Sounds fantastic.
Brunch, lunch or dinner slots at The Dining Club will be available from 10am to 10pm and will be bookable online here. Visitors will also get an Ikea treat.
