LOVEFiLM, Nectar, Virgin Media, Argos & Debenhams announced as 2012 eCommerce Award Finalists

Over 70 of the UK’s most innovative and successful e-tailers have been announced today as finalists for the fourth annual eCommerce Awards for Excellence, the only awards in the UK to recognise and reward achievements in the ecommerce industry.

The prestigious awards are in association with the leading global e-retailing association IMRG, who have devised the set of 17 categories that cover the breadth of the ecommerce transaction: from mCommerce and social media initiatives; design and delivery, to payment innovations and customer service.

The number and quality of entries for this year’s awards have been exceptionally high. A 147% increase in entries this year from hundreds of exceptional brands made for a challenging decision for our panel of expert judges. After careful deliberation the finalists have now been confirmed and include leading companies such as LOVEFiLM, Virgin Media, ASOS.com, Nectar, Argos, Debenhams and Vodafone as well as niche and up and coming brands Mr & Mrs Smith, Jokers’ Masquerade, Wish Want Wear and ParentMail.

The winners will be announced at a glamorous gala dinner at The Brewery, London on Tuesday 2nd October, the first evening of eCommerce Expo taking place at London Olympia on 2nd – 3rd October.

The winners of the annual award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to eCommerce’, ‘Green eRetailer of the Year’ and the ‘Online Gold Award’ will also be announced at the ceremony.

Rebecca Slater, Event Manager said “The overwhelming response to this year’s eCommerce Awards for Excellence not only reflect the importance of these awards in the industry, but the growth in the ecommerce industry as a whole.

In 2012 it is expected that over £50 billion will be spent online and in Europe, the UK, Germany and France accounted for over 70% of online sales, which just shows how advanced our industry here is and how online savvy our consumers are. To drive the ecommerce industry forward, the eCommerce Awards aim to recognise and showcase those achievements”.
