Introducing ‘YouTube Director’ : A suite of video ad creation products for businesses

Whether it’s for entertainment, indulging a passion, or discovering something new, more people are turning to YouTube to watch video.

In fact, growth in watch time on YouTube is up over 50 percent year-over-year1 so now, more than ever, businesses can connect with their customers through video advertising on YouTube.

We know that creating a polished video ad can be challenging. To make it easier for businesses of any size to get started with advertising on YouTube, Google’s  launching YouTube Director —two offerings; the YouTube Director for Business app, and the YouTube Director onsite service.

Make a video ad right from your phone

We know that creating a polished video ad can be challenging. To make it easier for businesses of any size to get started with advertising on YouTube, Google’s  launching YouTube Director —two offerings; the YouTube Director for Business app, and the YouTube Director onsite service.

With the free YouTube Director for business app (available on iOS devices today in the UK) anyone can create a video ad for their business quickly and easily—right from their phone. No editing experience required.

After downloading the app (iOS only, coming to Android soon), a business can choose a custom template that works best to showcase their product or service. The app will direct the business through the template shot-by-shot to help them produce a professional video quickly and easily. The YouTube Director app will even help the business understand not only what to film, but what to say and when. Once a video is complete, the app automatically uploads the video to YouTube. The business can even take advantage of a Google AdWords expert. If interested, they’ll be contacted within two days to help set up their video ad campaign.

With the YouTube Director for business app, small-to-medium sized businesses will get a free video ad creation app that’s:

  • Fast: 130+ ready-to-go templates designed for businesses of all types and sizes
  • Easy: No video editing experience required. The app walks businesses through each shot and tells them what to shoot, say, and when
  • Free: Businesses can produce polished videos quickly—without spending a penny

Alice Mansergh, Director of Google Marketing Solutions for UK and Ireland, said “With the YouTube Director App we want to make it easier for businesses everywhere to be able to find new customers and engage with their audience through high quality videos. Now, small companies can tap into the power of video advertising and content marketing, and therefore compete with larger brands on the world’s biggest online video destination.”

Small businesses are already getting excited too. Lucy Manfield, Marketing Manager at Wordery, an online bookshop offering free worldwide delivery on every order, said : “We understand customers of all ages are turning to video content to help them make their next purchasing decision. We’re incredibly excited about how quickly and easily we can now make videos with YouTube Director to reach them. The app will help us make professional content in under one hour. We’ve plans to create YouTube videos for advertising as well as content on everything from book reviews and business news to office antics. This content will open up a new engagement channel with our customers.”

Get a professional to make your video ad

In select U.K cities, we’re also offering YouTube Director onsite, a service that sends a professional filmmaker to shoot and edit a video ad when a business commits to spending at least £350 to advertise it on YouTube. In the UK, YouTube Director onsite is currently available in London and Manchester.

YouTube Director onsite connects businesses directly with a trained filmmaker who’ll work closely with them to write a customized video script and visit the business to shoot and edit a high quality video ad. Once completed, a video ad expert will partner with the business to ensure their videos are set up for success on Google AdWords. The entire YouTube Director onsite process takes a few hours over 2-3 weeks.

No matter what kind of business you’re in, getting started with advertising on YouTube just became a whole lot easier. We can’t wait to see what you make. Happy filming.
